Kirsty McGee & Mat MartinSaturday 14th June 2008 From Manchester. Kirsty's self-penned songs of life, love and wanderlust are difficult to categorise but her soft, melodic voice with Mat's multi-instrumental accompaniment produce moving, thought provoking music. They appeared as support for Capercaillie at Celtic connections this year. |

The Groanbox Boys18th May 2008 From Brooklyn/London this duo, Cory Seznec and Michael Ward-Bergeman, play an 'eclectic foot-stompin', boot-shakin', claw-hammerin', box-pumpin', sweat-drippin'-from-ceilin' American folk and blues. Writing their own music, I think their "Hobo Heaven", with its mean harmonica, soulful lyrics and amazing accordian, is a joy to hear. I'd like to learn this one. |
