Sunday 30th May 2010       Shekoyokh

She’Koyokh is London’s “klezmer sensation” performing Eastern European and Balkan folk music at international festivals and concert halls, on BBC television and radio while keeping it real at weddings and on the streets.

This popular band is now at the forefront of the revival of Eastern European roots music in the UK, bringing a fresh, energy to an extensive repertoire ranging from exhilarating Bulgarian and Turkish music to soulful Ashkenazi melodies from the villages in Poland, Romania and the Ukraine.

Sunday March 21st 2010          Dick Gaughan

One of the best nights  the Tin Hut has witnessed with a polished performance from a real professional. The songs were skillfully chosen from hard-hitting social comment numbers to old favourites including Burns and Hamish Henderson. They were of course delivered with feeling and power that kept the audience enthralled and on the edge of their seats. The accompanying guitarwork was at times amazing and in fact the instrumental numbers left one thinking there was more than one instrument on stage.

The night finished with everyone joining in the chorus of Geronimo's Cadillac and an encore of The Freedom Come All Ye. A great night indeed.

Monday February 15th 2010   Sara Grey & Kieron Means

Sara, originally from New Hampshire but based in Scotland for a good while, will be known to many of you in the Scottish folk scene as a wonderful singer and banjo player and who can also talk with authority about the songs she sings. Her son Kieron is also a strong singer and guitarist who has a broad range of material ranging from traditional  to old time to contemporary folk.

Sunday 13th December 2009     Michael Marra

"Michael Marra is one of the most inspiring acts we have had here. His songs are finely crafted works of art, offering insightful observance into human behaviour tinged with wonderfully dark humour. Marra is a man for the people, so down to earth, but with a perception most of us mere mortals would die for! As a performer, his years of experience have given him the ability to put an audience instantly at ease, allowing them to fully enjoy his startling musicianship and spine tingling voice. There is a refreshing, rarely seen honesty and emotion to everything he does.
"Genius is not a word I use lightly, but Michael Marra falls comfortably into this category. Go see him as soon as you can."
(Mark Gordon, Scholars Notes, Scarborough, Yorkshire)

31st May 2008      Sinsheen

From Brooklyn/London this duo, Cory Seznec and Michael Ward-Bergeman, play an 'eclectic foot-stompin', boot-shakin', claw-hammerin', box-pumpin', sweat-drippin'-from-ceilin' American folk and blues. Writing their own music, I think their "Hobo Heaven", with its mean harmonica, soulful lyrics and amazing accordian, is a joy to hear.
