The WIYOS March 23rd 2011 sold out

The Wiyos are renowned as one of the most versatile and original bands on the rootsy Americana circuit, praised my many of the masters and appreciated by legendary BBC presenter, Bob Harris for their “great music”.
They draw their inspiration from classic acts such as The Hoosier Hotshots, Milton Brown & His Musical Brownies, Fats Waller, Spike Jones, Willie McTell, Gus Cannon & The Jug Stompers and The Mississippi Sheiks.
The ‘live’ performance is something to behold, with lashings of whiz-bang on top, as Seth Travins’ tasty bass drives resophonic, Hawaiian and lap steel, acoustic guitars, harmonica, washboard, an occasional flash of brass and much much more.
In 2009, the band was invited to be the opening act on the Big Summer Tour when Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp hit the road to take in 27 baseball parks across the USA.
In 2010 they wowed the UK with a headline show at Celtic Connections.
If you are still to be Wiyoed, as Seasick Steve says: “You’re in for a surprise.”

Sunday March 21st 2010 Dick Gaughan

One of the best nights the Tin Hut has witnessed with a polished performance from a real professional. The songs were skillfully chosen from hard-hitting social comment numbers to old favourites including Burns and Hamish Henderson. They were of course delivered with feeling and power that kept the audience enthralled and on the edge of their seats. The accompanying guitarwork was at times amazing and in fact the instrumental numbers left one thinking there was more than one instrument on stage.
The night finished with everyone joining in the chorus of Geronimo's Cadillac and an encore of The Freedom Come All Ye. A great night indeed.

Sunday 13th December 2009 Michael Marra

"Michael Marra is one of the most inspiring acts we have had here. His songs are finely crafted works of art, offering insightful observance into human behaviour tinged with wonderfully dark humour. Marra is a man for the people, so down to earth, but with a perception most of us mere mortals would die for! As a performer, his years of experience have given him the ability to put an audience instantly at ease, allowing them to fully enjoy his startling musicianship and spine tingling voice. There is a refreshing, rarely seen honesty and emotion to everything he does.
"Genius is not a word I use lightly, but Michael Marra falls comfortably into this category. Go see him as soon as you can."
